Billing Policies

Fall Semester Financial Course Load
Total course load at the end of the second week (Sept. 11, 2009) will be considered as the student’s course load base by the Controller’s Office for the semester. All additions will be figured from this base. This policy includes late sign up for mini or modular courses.

Mini Courses
All Semesters
For courses that meet less than a full semester (i.e. 8 weeks or 10 weeks), full tuition will be refunded for classes dropped on or before the first day of class. A 50% refund is available for a class dropped within three days of the first class session. No refunds will be available for classes dropped four days after the first class session or later.

Partial drops (reduction of class hours but remaining in school)*
Fall Semester

The full tuition will be refunded for full semester classes (i.e. 15 weeks) dropped by the end of the second week of classes, ending Sept. 11, 2009. There are no refunds for a class dropped after Sept. 11, 2009. Course fees are not refundable.

Complete official withdrawal*

May Interims & Summer Sessions 2009:
A full refund, less $15 registration will be given if a student drops all hours on or before the first day of class. A 50% refund will be issued if a student drops all hours within the first four days of class. After that, no refund will be available for dropped classes.

Fall Semester
Follow the withdrawal procedures for withdrawing after completing registration but before the official beginning day of university classes on Aug. 26, 2009, a full refund less registration fee of $50 will be made for first-semester freshmen and parttime students. All other full-time students will be charged a registration fee of $100. When a student completes an Official Withdrawal from the university on or after the beginning day of university classes, tuition and room will be charged as follows:

  Withdrawal during 2nd week (ending Sept. 11, 2009) 15%
  Withdrawal during 3rd week (ending Sept. 18, 2009) 20%
  Withdrawal during 4th week (ending Sept. 25, 2009) 25%
  Withdrawal during 5th week (ending Oct. 2, 2009) 35%
  Withdrawal during 6th week (ending Oct. 9, 2009) 40%
  Withdrawal during 7th week (ending Oct. 16, 2009) 45%
  Withdrawal during 8th week (ending Oct. 23, 2009) 50%
  Withdrawal during 9th week (ending Oct. 30, 2009) 60%
  Withdrawal after Oct. 30, 2009 100%
  Room  
  Charged on a prorated basis for each day.  
  Board  
  Charged on meal plan money used and overhead.  

Course, health and activity fees are non-refundable. No adjustment of tuition or room will be made for withdrawal after Oct. 30, 2009. Questions or appeals regarding refunds/charges should be directed to the Student Finance Manager, in care of the Controller’s Office. All payments will be processed on the date they are received. Refunds will be mailed to the student’s permanent home address.

* The date the drop is processed is the date used in computing fee adjustments. Refunds for dropping individual classes or refunds for withdrawal from the university cannot be made until 5 or 6 weeks after registration. See Academic Calendar for applicable dates.
